Get into the PlayStation Home Beta

There’s been a veil of mystery surrounding PlayStation Home since it was announced at GDC in 2007. Now, you have a chance to get in on the Sony project that has you create an avatar and use the PlayStation Network in a virtual, social networking space.
To apply for the PlayStation Home closed beta, all you need to do is download the PlayStation Home theme that will go live on the PSN today, according to Home Director Jack Buser on the Official PlayStation Blog.
“By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home Beta test community,” Buser wrote. “We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PlayStation Network to determine eligibility for the Beta community. Existing beta testers have automatically qualified to be part of the expanded beta.” In Europe, Sony’s “directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store” via e-mail.
